Deborah Smith obtained an M.A. in Geographic Techniques from San Francisco State University. She has been with Remote Sensing Systems since 1996 where her work includes scatterometer data processing, vector wind validation, and development and maintenance of in-house validation data sets. She currently manages the NASA MEaSUREs DISCOVER project. This work includes developing merged geophysical datasets, validating data products and coordinating with scientists and data redistributors. In addition, Deborah is the user support department for REMSS, answering or redirecting all user questions sent to the support mailbox. Recent research topics include the analysis of tropical cyclone winds using scatterometer and radiometer data and the detection and characterization of regional winds such as the Caribbean Low Level Jet. Deborah is a member of the NASA Ocean Vector Wind Science Team. She is also a member of both AMS and AGU, presents at many professional meetings, and currently sits on the AMS STAC Committee on Satellite Meteorology and Oceanography.
