AMSR-E stopped rotating on Oct 4th, 2011. This affects the AMSR-E, TMI_AMSR-E MW OI SSTs and the MWIR SST products from day 275 onward.
We are hoping to release a new version of OI SST products soon which will contain WindSat SSTs. Look here for more information. Until that time, the Version-3 MW OI products stop at julian day 275, 2011, except for TMI MW OI SSTs.
PLEASE READ!!! The tmi_amsre and mw_ir SST data both use WindSAT data from 10/2011 onward, due to the failure of AMSR-E. We are currently working in reprocess all the datasets. In the future there will simply be a microwave OI SST at 25 km and a microwave+infrared SST at 9 km.
New read routines in IDL, Matlab and Fortran are available and format details are provided in the Data Description web page.

Comments: |
IR allows higher spatial resolution, and SST near land. However, IR input is less accurate than MW due to cloud contamination. Blending MW and IR enables greater coverage and higher accuracy than IR only SSTs, but current OI does not completely eliminate cloud contamination inherent to IR SSTs. For climatological accuracy, consider MW OI SSTs. |

Data file format is detailed in the MW OI SST Description.
